Parent responsibilites

*Parent Responsibilities and Expectations
Serving:
All families that are members of Bethany Covenant Church are expected to be part of our cooperative program. Please see attached form “Children’s Ministry Programs” for more details.

If you have a child(ren) participating in more than one program, you will be expected to serve in more than one program.

All volunteers working with children are expected to complete necessary paperwork for a background check. We will provide this to you if you are new or your previous paperwork is more than 5 years old.

If you cannot serve at this time or should not be around children, please speak confidentially with Kelly Tibbitts.

Supporting:
 Express interest in your child’s class! Your child will come home with papers and crafts relating to the Bible lesson they just learned. This is material for you to see what they are learning and to use it in discussion and application throughout the week.

 Express appreciation to your child’s volunteer teachers! All teachers spend time throughout the week preparing for Sunday morning and weekly events. They love to serve; however, it’s nice to receive recognition as well.

Communicating:
 Please keep open communication with Kelly Tibbitts! Just like at school, there are personal family or developmental issues that may affect your child at church. We want to be able to provide the most appropriate environment and support for your child. If you also have any concerns, ideas, etc. about Children’s Ministry please let Kelly know.

CM Fall 2010 information

Hello Parents,
Here is a overview of what we will do in CM this Fall.

9:00 service
In the sanctuary we will have a traditional worship service.
Children who attend that service will stay in the sanctuary for the service.
Children who wish to attend Sunday School should go to Fellowship Hall downstairs for an opening time from 8:50-9:05. Children will go to their class at 9:05 am.

Sunday School for ages 3 and 4 will be led by Diana Hutchinson.
Sunday School for Kindergarten and Age 5 will be led by Cindy Carlson

If you are planning on being a shepherd, or teacher, let me know.
Children in Grades 1-4 will spend 8 weeks studying the prophets

Club 56 will spend the Fall reviewing Bible Basics of the Old Testament

10:30 Service
In the sanctuary we will have a Contemporary Worship service.
Children will be dismissed after the Children's sermon for a time of children’s church.
Children enter the Sanctuary and stay until the Children's message and dismissal to Praise & Play (ages 3-5) and Children's Church (ages 6-10).

Another 10:30 option… If your family attends the traditional service together, we have one Sunday School option for children in grades 1-4.
Blessings,
Kelly

Children's Ministry Mission and Staff

Children's Ministry is led by

Kelly Tibbitts- Director of Children's Ministry
Cindy Carlson and Diana Hutchinson- Early Childhood Directors
Lis Hood and Jen Bless- Elementary Directors
and a Volunteer Support Team led by
Todd Wallace, Beth Fitzgerald , Sue Cassidy and David Cassidy

Our Mission is to help children take
Small Steps Closer to Christ

Our Objectives are:
• To make disciples of our children and their families by providing a safe, nurturing environment where children are accepted and loved.
• To make disciples of our children by intentionally shepherding them. This includes providing opportunities for children to accept Jesus as their Lord, be baptized, receive communion and grow in the knowledge of the Word.
• To make new disciples by reaching out to the community with programming that introduces children and their families to Jesus Christ.
• To make disciples of parents and other volunteers by providing opportunities to serve.
• To provide relevant, creative instruction in God’s Word. We desire that our children would observe all that God has commended. We also want them to take God’s promises and hide them in their hearts.
