9:00 Sunday School
Sunday School is offered for nursery, ages 3 and 4 , age 5 and Kindergarten,
Grades 1-4 and Grades 5 & 6.
Preschool Programs teach one Bible lesson a week using the alphabet as a guide.
A is for Abraham, C is for Caleb, etc.. They study lessons on a two year schedule using the Beginner's Bible.
Connect 1234 is our Workshop Rotation program for grades 1-4. Our teaching method uses multiple workshops for learning a bible story. The same bible story is learned over a three to four week period but each week it is presented in a different format; drama, cooking, art, Science, storytelling, puppetry, games and drama are all used.. The story and the accompanying bible memory verse are emphasized each week to maintain a connection through the rotation.
The strength of this program is the shepherd teams who commit to serving each week. They get to know the children, pray with them and help them apply the Bible to their lives.
Our 2010-2011 rotations include 8 weeks on the Prophets of the Old Testament using "elevate" material by Creative Pastors. We will also study Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Miracles, Parables, The 12 disciples, The Resurrection, and the Christmas story using this method. Each week the students go to a different room depending on the rotation. Drop off and pick up are always in Fellowship Hall.
Club 56 is our Sunday Morning program for 5th and 6th graders.we study the Old Testament and put it in chronological order this Fall and study scripture with a plan to "Take it Home" and learn Bible study and life discipleship skills.
This class is taught by a team of 4 families who have committed to teaching this entire year.

10:30 Children's Ministry
Welcome to the Children’s Ministry Programs at 10:30am!
Babies through age 3 may go to the nursery when you arrive at church. All other children will attend worship in the Sanctuary until they are dismissed after the Children’s Sermon.
Nursery is designed around a dynamic and interactive video series called Boz. This series highlights different Bible stories. For the older babies & toddlers, a simple 5 minute lesson is led by the teacher and repeated for an entire month. Our goal is to teach each child through natural processes some foundational lessons about God. After the lesson, a snack is offered. Children are welcome to bring their own cups from home for each class.
Preschool Programs are called “Praise and Play”. These programs are geared toward children whose ages range from 2 years 9 months through 5 years, or Kindergarten. Children typically move up from the nursery when the parents and staff sense that the child is able to participate in more directed activities. A child will move on from Praise and Play when he/she enters First Grade.
Our Preschool program is broken into two classrooms: ages 3 & 4, and age 5 & Kindergarten. Both classes offer structured Bible lessons, a craft, games or playtime and a snack. Playtime is set-up to encourage creativity, sharing, taking turns and having fun. Children play with age-appropriate toys. Children are also are invited to participate in teacher-directed activities such as painting, playing with play dough, or they may listen to music.
Children in grades 1-4 are taught in our exciting Children's program that meets during our 10:300 AM service. Our 10:30 am program is called “Children’s worship”, and will feature13 week lesson series. These lessons will be taught using a variety of mediums. Classes teach Bible lessons using drama, games, music and art to connect your child to God’s Word.
Club 56 is a Sunday school program for 5th and 6th grade students. This program is only offered at 9 am. However, we do meet one Friday night a month for Fellowship, Fun and faith filled lessons.
Covenant Kids is a program where students in Grade 5 and older can be trained to help in our 10:30 programs. Speak to Mrs. Tibbitts to find our how your child can become part of this team.
For families who attend the 9:00 service together, or would prefer a Traditional Sunday school for their 1st-4th grade child, we offer classes during this hour in the green room off Fellowship Hall. Please arrive at 10:30.
Your child's safety is our first concern at Bethany Covenant Church. All parents will be asked to fill out a registration card upon their child's first visit. Parents should pick up their children promptly after the adult worship service has ended.

Give Thanks This Fall!
Dan Norton of Back to the Bible states- "Parenting is a thankless job. You spend your entire life taking care of your kids—washing their clothes, making meals, carpooling them from activity to activity. And do they ever thank you? Probably not? Wouldn't it be nice if your child came back and said, "Thanks, Mom and Dad."
But then you begin to realize that maybe we sometimes do the same thing—not to our earthly parent, but to our Heavenly Father. He's done so much for us, but how often do we express thanks?
We will being our Fall 2010 Sunday School program for our elementary age students with an 8 week unit on the prophets. It started September 5th when we learned about Jonah.
How often are we like the prophet Jonah, the guy in the belly of the great fish? Jonah says, in the belly of the great fish, "I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, and He answered me…For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas,…all Your billows and Your waves passed over me…The waters surrounded [encompassed] me, even to my soul; the deep closed around me; weeds were wrapped around my head…
"When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; and my prayer went up to You, into Your holy temple. Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy. But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord" (Jonah 2:2 9).
Perhaps your family would like to begin each school day with some time in God’s word and in prayer. If you want to be intimate in thanking God, use your prayers as a forum for your thanksgiving. There is not a more appropriate place to be thankful than when you are talking with God.”
Dan Norton says-“Prayer is not just about our wants. It's about thanking God for His blessings. We never actually leave God's presence, physically that is. Remember, the psalmist struggled with that in Psalm 139—"Where can I go from your presence?" he asked God. The answer, of course, is nowhere—but we can leave God's intimate presence. And when we pray, or when we thank God, we want to do it in His presence. “
This Fall….As a family, carve out time in the morning or evening to study God’s word and pray together. Remember that God Loves to hear our praise and thankful prayers!

WOW! Parents are important!
Here are some in inspiring facts!
* An extensive study of 272, 400 teenagers conducted by USA Today Weekend Magazine found that 70 percent of teens identified their parents as the most important influence in their lives. Twenty-one percent said that about their friends (peers), and only 8 percent named the media (from Wayne Rice and David Veerman, Understanding Your Teenager, Lakeside, CA: Understanding Your Teenager Books, 1999, 118).
* MVParents.com says, ‘Nearly three out of four parents believe their children’s friends and classmates have the most influence… Yet contrary to what parents think, kids say mom and dad have the biggest impact on the choices they make’ (MVParents.com is a web site of the Coors Brewing Company).
* In a national survey, 1, 129 middle school students were asked what the greatest influence in their life was, and parents topped the list. The results were: parents–37 percent, friends–22 percent, church–11 percent, youth pastor–7 percent, and music–5 percent. Adult volunteers, schoolteachers, culture, and the internet each scored 2 percent or less. A national survey of 923 high school students yielded very similar results (Southern Baptist Convention survey, taken from www.sbcstudents.com/annualsurvey/2007ParentYouthRelationships.pdf).
* MTV and the Associated Press released a study on influence of parents that said, “So you’re between the ages of 13 and 24. What makes you happy? A worried, weary parent might imagine the answer to sound something like this: Sex, drugs, and a little rock ‘n’ roll. Maybe some cash, or at least the car keys. Turns out the real answer is quite different. Spending time with family was the top answer to that open-ended question… Parents are seen as an overwhelmingly positive influence in the lives of most young people. Remarkably, nearly half of teens mention at least one of their parents as a hero” (“MTV and the Associated Press Release Landmark Study of Young People and Happiness” at www.mtv.com/thinkmtv/research).
